Over mij
Al mijn hele leven ben ik gepassioneerd door het ontdekken van nieuwe boeken en het snuisteren door boekhandels en bibliotheken. Voor mij is lezen niet alleen een manier om bij te leren, maar ook de ideale manier om mijn wereld te verruimen.
Ik geloof sterk in de kracht van goed geschreven verhalen en help hier dan ook graag aan mee door de taal van jouw boek bij te schaven. Ik wil het beste in elk boek naar boven halen, want lezers zullen zich veel beter kunnen inleven in jouw boek zonder taalfouten!
Daarnaast gun ik het iedereen om zich gerepresenteerd te zien in verhalen. Door mijn eigen ervaringen en veel boeken te lezen ben ik dé persoon om jou bij te staan bij het schrijven van women’s fiction en lgbtqia+-boeken.
Voor ik in het boekenveld terechtkwam, heb ik eerst een omweg gemaakt via de wetenschappen en gezondheidszorg. Ik heb mijn master in Biomedische Wetenschappen behaald en daarna ben ik een doctoraat in de bio-informatica begonnen. Na enkele jaren had ik echter door dat dit niets voor mij was en besloot ik te zoeken naar een job die meer bij mijn leespassie aansluit.
Ik heb mij laten omscholen via Studio Folio en werk als freelance persklaarmaker en corrector. Ik woon samen met mijn lief en onze hond in Gent.

The books of January
The first month of 2026 is officially over! It went by fast and slow at the same time, if that makes sense? I was a guest on a (Dutch) podcast for the first time, talking about queer characters in books.
Four bookshops and five books in Rome
I recently went to Rome with my partner, and of course we couldn’t resist visiting some bookshops. I thought it seemed fun to do a separate post about this.
The books I read in December
I had a great month, with some events, work and some rest at the end of the year. I went to a ‘literary think day’ about disease and language, very interesting and nourishing.

I guess November is the month when we have to adjust to the dark days in the northern half front, and when we start looking forward to the holidays.
The books I read in Oktober
October! Autumn is in full swing, which means we’re getting more darkness than light here in Belgium, and it's been raining a lot. I went to a literary festival and watched a film based on a book.

Another new month has passed. In September, I attended a festival with a large book market that featured progressive books.
The books I read in August
August is over! September is here and so are the inevitable thoughts about the end of the year (and autumn). In August, I went to three book clubs and a ‘Read & Relax’ session in Ghent.
The books I read in July
Whew, July is already over! It went by like a train. The summer is always a bit quieter regarding cultural events. I went to a book sale and bought some nice second-hand books.
The books I read in June
June was the month of short(er) books. I read a poetry collection, a graphic novel, four fiction novels and two non-fiction books. I also attended a few book events.
The books I read in May
The days of May flew by. I started my new job as a freelance editor and I love it! It was a busy month, with a book club, book markets, visits to some cities, and meeting with friends.
The books I read in April
It has been a busy few weeks, hence my post is a bit later. I only finished fiction books in April and have also been reading On Women by Susan Sontag. I finished four books.
The books I read in March
March was again a lovely reading month. I read a variety of novels and nonfiction books. One of them will definitely end up on my list of the best books I read in 2025.
Four graphic novels to read
I like to read graphic novels from time to time, especially because they usually convey a sad, challenging, or complex message, but the format makes it easier to grasp and process.
The books I read in February
I read five books this month (well, six actually, see the bonus below). It was a lovely month with some variation. I read four novels, one a graphic novel and one memoir as an audiobook.
